Logistics is seeking qualified and reliable candidates for the position of Mover III to join our Moving and Trucking team. The Mover III position is a key part of the Moving and Trucking team that assists the needs of multiple schools, colleges and units across campus. This role requires an individual with excellent customer service skills, a strong sense of self-motivation, and a demonstrated ability to work in teams.
- Move items as requested by university schools, colleges and units
- Assemble, disassemble, and reconfigure office furniture components, partitions, overhead cabinets and drawers
- Mount and remove items including tack boards, shelving, and whiteboards as requested
- Rig items for installation/removal or transport (e.g. transformers, coils, machines, granite or other heavy objects)
- Position rigged loads to assist heavy equipment operator
- Setup and teardown regular and tubular scaffolding
- Set up, tear down and transport items for special events
- Transport surplus items from various locations and deliver them to Property Disposition
- Transport electrical cables to underground vaults and ducts for installation by Utilities department
- Erect barricades and place signals around worksites
- Signal calling as needed
- Must maintain a valid DOT Medical Certificate
- Must be able to obtain upon hire or posses a valid UM forklift permit .
Other duties:
- Operate specialized equipment including: semi-tractor/trailer, box and stake trucks, telescoping and regular fork lifts, aerial lifts, and passenger vehicles
- Use of specialized equipment required to complete job duties including: hand trucks, dollies, crank-ups, straps, chains, and other moving related equipment
- Assist DPSS and local Police with special event traffic control
- Assemble and move lab related equipment within highly critical areas
- Transport items within the continental United States
- Transport stock and equipment campus wide
- Clean assigned area of work and equipment
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
