Oakland HOPE DRIVER– Full Time - July 2026 (Tues thru Sat)
The Food Pantry & Thrift Store Driver position at Oakland HOPE works with the TEAM who is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a fast-passed, volunteer-driven, growing non-profit Thrift Store which funds our Client Choice Food Pantry. Candidates must possess clean driving record, have strong and approachable human service abilities, customer service, attention to detail, aptitude for multi-tasking, ability to communicate clearly and delegate as well as the capability of working effectively and independently with staff. Drivers will pick-up food, pick-up and deliver furniture, unload trucks, and learn to drive a hi-low and box truck. Chauffer’s License or CDL not required.
Our drivers are customer service beyond our walls.
For many donors, suppliers, and customers, our driver is the first, and sometimes only, Oakland HOPE team member they will ever meet. We only get one opportunity to make a great first impression.
Primary Responsibilities
- Safely operate Oakland HOPE vehicles and equipment in accordance with all traffic laws and Oakland HOPE policies.
- Pick up food donations from grocery stores, food distributors, restaurants, farms, and community partners.
- Deliver and pick up furniture, appliances, and household goods.
- Load, unload, secure, and transport items safely to prevent damage.
- Inspect donated items for quality and report concerns when necessary.
- Complete daily pickup and delivery schedules accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain communication with supervisors regarding schedules, delays, or vehicle concerns.
- Assist with warehouse organization and donation processing as needed.
- Keep vehicles clean, fueled, and ready for daily operation.
- Complete vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues immediately.
- Accurately document deliveries, pickups, mileage, and required paperwork.

- Must be self-motivated, work well under deadlines, you must be able to work in a constantly changing environment.
- You must be punctual for work attendance, scheduled work and breaks.
- You will work under the direct supervision of the Executive Director and work closely with the other Department Managers
