Plant Engineer positions offered by Arauco North America, Inc. (Grayling, Michigan). Perform the duties required involving application of intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods, advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of own field and related sciences and disciplines. Execute duties with a view to achieving mill efficiency, continuous improvement, employee and contractor and public safety, and cost savings. Apply scientific principles as directed, investigate appropriate methods/procedures, and propose integration into engineering projects. General contributor in application of engineering and scientific principles to meet technical requirements. Propose technical concepts, plan for implementation, review technical progress, review and design tests, review performance data and conduct root cause analysis, and suggest solutions to technical problems. Interact with other technical personnel sharing general advice, training and technical guidance. Overall site management of Capital and Engineering coordination. Overall responsibility to develop, submit and control Capex projects (SAP) including conception, scope and specification development, prepare and defend business cases, schedule development and management,
engineering and engineering management, drawing approvals, vendor and contractor discussions and negotiations, procurement control, fabrication oversight, site management of contractors, field inspections, project site safety and environmental compliance, commissioning, development of maintenance plans and Standard Operating Procedures, project capitalization, and final documentation. Participate in Annual Plan development with emphasis on maintenance and capital. Ensure the appropriate internal and external resources are applied to equipment and process issues and initiatives. Ensure there is a focus on the key
metrics that drive business results. Oversight for all engineering documents and control of same. Support Maintenance and Operations in key reliability improvement initiatives.
• Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field and 3 years of engineering experience in a wood products manufacturing environment, applying expertise of the industry input and output streams.
• Must have 3 years of experience in each of the following:
o Implementing cost management strategies
o Processing and analyzing data for executive presentations
o Utilizing Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, and
OneDrive
o Utilizing Qliksense and SAP
o Working with Autocad and Navisworks; and
o Utilizing MS Project
• Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently.
