The Patient Care Technician Trainee is a temporary entry-level position. The position exists to provide incumbents training to achieve educational knowledge and a defined skillset and ultimately obtain an internal certification or State of Michigan registry document as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). The Patient Care Technician Trainee will receive education through internal training or CNA program to provide basic nursing care, communicate with patients, family members, and others on the healthcare team, and obtain the skills necessary to provide, and assist with, patient activities of daily living.
Individuals who successfully complete the course will move into a permanent role with MyMichigan Health.
The class will run from August 31st through September 11th. The first week consists of classroom instruction, followed by a week of clinical training on the floor. Trainees are paid minimum wage ($13.73/hour), but move up to $16.91/hour once they move into their permanent role.
Responsibilities
(100%) * Satisfactorily complete the Patient Care Technician training program OR complete Davenport University Certified Nursing Assistant Program and pass certification test ultimately achieving State of Michigan registry document as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) within 30 days of Davenport program completion.
Shifts include: Three 12 hour shifts, Days 7am - 7pm and Nights 7pm - 7am, rotating weekend shifts (every other)
