Job Summary
Dorsey College is seeking an experienced Clinical Instructor – Registered Nurse (Part Time/Adjunct) to join its instructional team in Saginaw, Michigan.
The Clinical Instructor is entrusted with imparting the knowledge and skills students need to be successful by providing quality clinical instruction while ensuring students achieve competency in course objectives. Clinical Instructors evaluate and resolve student questions, issues, and concerns while maintaining compliance with Dorsey College policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
This position supervises, leads, and teaches Practical Nursing students during clinical experiences at assigned medical facilities. The ideal candidate is a dedicated Registered Nurse who enjoys mentoring students and helping prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Essential Functions
Clinical Instruction and Student Success
- Lecture, conduct, and supervise clinical experiences for Registered Nursing and Practical Nursing students.
- Instruct students in the principles and application of physical, biological, and psychological subjects related to nursing practice.
- Plan and coordinate daily learning experiences that meet both student and patient needs.
- Provide learning opportunities that enhance the application of the nursing process, interpersonal communication, and technical nursing skills.
- Guide students in effective communication and problem-solving with coworkers, patients, and families from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Participate in campus orientation activities for Registered Nursing and Practical Nursing students.
Student Evaluation and Support
- Supervise and monitor students as they perform technical and patient care skills.
- Assess patient status to ensure appropriate clinical learning experiences.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of attendance, evaluations, clinical experiences, performance, and progress.
- Report concerns regarding student performance to the Director of Nursing and/or Clinical Coordinator.
- Consult with the Director of Nursing regarding students whose performance does not meet established clinical standards.
Collaboration and Professional Development
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing, Clinical Coordinator, medical personnel, and nursing staff to evaluate and improve clinical instruction.
- Work with Career Services to assist students with employment opportunities following clinical training.
- Participate in the development of clinical procedures, protocols, and instructional materials.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse preferred.
- Previous teaching or staff education experience preferred.
Working and Physical Demands
- Evening and occasional weekend hours may be required to support business needs.
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, patients, and healthcare professionals.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate computers, telephones, and standard office equipment.
