| Summary of Position: | This is a temporary, 17-week clinical position. The position will provide individual, couple, and group short-term mental health counseling and crisis intervention for Ferris State University (FSU) students. This position will start August 24th 2026 and will conclude December 11th 2026.
The selected candidate for this position must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire without employer assistance or sponsorship now or in the future. The university will not assist with any F1 EAD’s, OPT, H1B, etc. | |

| Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: | 1 year of experience providing mental health therapy preferred. Additional certification in Substance Abuse Assessment and Counseling/Treatment preferred Experience working in a college or university counseling center preferred. | |
| Essential Duties/Responsibilities: | Provide short-term individual, couple, or group counseling to a diverse student body using empirically based treatment methods and accepted standards of practice within one's professional discipline.
Provide crisis intervention, risk assessments, and safety plans for students identified as a risk to themselves or others on an as-needed basis. This will include partnering with various campus departments in handling mental health emergencies.
Respond to campus/local community tragedies, including but not limited to student suicide or death.
Maintain a high quality of care coordination for clients, including adequate referrals for evaluation or treatment, communicating with involved treatment providers, supporting family members when appropriate, tracking students of concern, while maintaining appropriate and timely confidential client records in an electronic record system.
Attends and participates in student services and other appropriate campus meetings.
Directly report to the Director of the Personal Counseling Center.
Responsible for maintaining professional competence and license(s) by continuing relevant professional training and development in best practices.
Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated protected information and performing duties in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, legal mandates, and code of ethics.
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with university policies and applicable laws.
Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty, and staff to thrive authentically.
Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. | |
