Job Title: MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOD SERVICE PRODUCTION
Prepare and serve meals in a safe, efficient, and sanitary manner while supporting daily food service operations. This role involves operating food service equipment and cash registers, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, interacting positively with students and staff, and contributing to a welcoming cafeteria atmosphere through teamwork, flexibility, and adherence to district procedures.
Qualifications:
- Ability to operate a cash register and complete necessary technology tasks
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to repeatedly bend, squat, climb, and reach
- Experience and knowledge in food service preparation, sanitation, and food service equipment
- ServSafe Certification (preferred) or willingness and ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
Essential Functions:
- Ability to relate to children and other team members in a positive manner
- Ability to use firm but fair approach when dealing with students
- Ability to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for students and staff being served while maintaining a safe, positive, and productive work environment
- Ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (written, verbal, and listening skills)
- Ability to be enthusiastic and flexible
- Ability to abide by all district policies and procedures
- Excellent time management skills
- Willingness and ability to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance
- Ability to complete other duties as assigned
Location: East Grand Rapids Middle School
Rate: Per the Support Staff Contract, Food Service Classification Category II, Production
Hours: 5.9 hours a day, 29.5 hours a week, Monday - Friday (on full school days)
Start Date: August 2026
