Job Title: Boring Mill Operator
Department: Machining
Reports to: Machine Shop Supervisor
Summary
Responsible for setting up and operating large boring machines.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Read blueprints, engineering drawings, and schematics to determine the sequence of machining operations.
Select, mount, and secure cutting tools and workpieces. Set machine parameters such as feeds, speeds, and depth.
Inspect finished workpieces using precision measuring to ensure compliance with blueprint tolerances.
Maintain a clean workspace, perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment, and adhere to strict shop
safety protocols.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Usually 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in manual or CNC machining.
Strong ability to read blueprints and understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Mathematical Skills
A strong grasp of applied shop math.
Reasoning Ability
Strong spatial, troubleshooting, and analytical reasoning to bridge the gap between technical machining execution
and high-level operations.
