Position Summary
The Gift Officer grows the organization's major and mid-level gift portfolio by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual and corporate donors capable of transformational gifts, working closely with the Director of Development to deepen donor commitment to NMHFH's affordable homeownership mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Major & Mid-Level Gift Development (60%): Manage a portfolio of 75–125 donors/prospects (focus on $5,000+ gifts); build relationships through in-person meetings and site visits; develop cultivation/solicitation strategies; prepare proposals and make personalized asks; provide post-gift stewardship; identify new prospects; support planned giving conversations.
- Prospect Research & Pipeline Management (20%): Research donor capacity and readiness; maintain accurate records in Bloomerang (or equivalent); prepare portfolio reports and revenue projections; collaborate with the Philanthropy Engagement Manager on donor transitions; track engagement signals.
- Community & Stakeholder Engagement (15%): Attend community/networking events to cultivate prospects; represent the organization externally; support board members' donor outreach; assist with corporate partnerships and sponsorships.
- Team Collaboration (5%): Partner with Marketing & Events and Philanthropy Engagement teams; participate in department planning.

Qualifications
- 2–3 years of nonprofit fundraising/major gifts experience; demonstrated success closing $5,000+ gifts
- Bachelor's degree preferred; CFRE/CFRM a plus
- Proficiency with donor management software (Bloomerang, Salesforce, Raiser's Edge, etc.)
- Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills
- Housing/community development nonprofit experience a plus
Other Requirements
Regular local (and some in- and out-of-state) travel; valid driver's license; evening/weekend availability as needed; passes criminal background and sex offender checks; may be subject to credit/drug screening.
Reports To: Director of Development. No direct supervisory authority over staff; coordinates with volunteers/contractors as needed.
