Job Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented mid-level Systems Engineer responsible for Requirements and Safety to lead requirements compliance and safety engineering activities for new and existing programs for military platforms. This role requires independent execution of systems engineering tasks, including requirements decomposition, traceability analysis, hazard analysis, and verification planning. The engineer will work with moderate supervision and serve as a technical contributor to compliance efforts and system safety program implementation per MIL-STD-882E. The engineer will also support any Fuze Safety Review Board tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Requirements Management & Compliance
Provide customer requirements management for new and existing requirements submitted to the program by customer stakeholder organizations and partners.
Contribute to the establishment of system engineering processes.
Decompose system-level requirements into subsystem and component requirements, and conduct requirements compliance assessments and gap analysis
Support preparation of requirements compliance assessments for technical reviews
Select, implement, and configure tools to support the requirement engineering and safety processes
Support documentation of system and subsystem requirements in the System Model using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools
Support interface control document (ICD) development and maintenance for hardware and software configuration items
Safety Engineering Support
Conduct system hazard analyses (SHA), subsystem hazard analyses (SSHA), and functional hazard analyses (FHA) per MIL-STD-882E with Change 1
Identify and document hardware hazards and integrated software contributions to hardware hazards
Identify safety-significant functions (safety-critical and safety-related) and establish verification protocols
Derive safety-specific hazard mitigation requirements and design support to eliminate or reduce causal factors
Assess residual risk levels and prepare justification documentation for System Safety IPT approval
Coordinate with software safety engineers on software system safety program activities
Participate in functional hazard analysis (FHA) activities under supervision
Help maintain configuration management documentation
Assist in risk identification and documentation for the Risk Management Plan
Compensation Starting At: $50/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Skills and Requirements
3+ years of experience in systems engineering & requirements Management
experience with MIL-STD-882E System Safety processes and hazard analysis techniques
experience with DOORs or similar requirements Management tool - Master's degree in Systems Engineering or related field
Experience with defense acquisition programs and DoD standards
Knowledge of MAF (Modular Active Framework) architecture and compliance processes
Familiarity with Active Protection Systems (APS) or vehicle protection systems
Experience with software safety analysis and safety-critical systems
INCOSE CSEP (Certified Systems Engineering Professional) or equivalent certification
Active Secret or Top Secret clearance
