Job Title: Mechanical Technician
Job Description
This Mechanical Technician role focuses on performing detailed labor time studies and full-vehicle service validations. You will work on every major component of the vehicle, timing and documenting removal and installation procedures while continuously identifying ways to optimize and improve service processes. This position suits a hands-on automotive professional who enjoys working independently, collaborating with engineers, and contributing directly to the accuracy and efficiency of service documentation.
Responsibilities
Perform on-vehicle validation of service procedures for a wide range of vehicle systems and components.
Disassemble and reassemble vehicles while accurately timing each step of the process.
Identify errors, gaps, and potential optimizations within existing service procedures.
Conduct detailed time studies of removal and installation procedures and record accurate data.
Document validation activities and time study results in a clear and organized manner.
Communicate project status and findings to leadership as required.
Review email and task trackers at the start of each day to identify and prioritize assigned work.
Follow a tracker file that serves as a roadmap for daily and weekly tasks and projects.
Complete a variety of special projects in addition to standard validation work, including new or unique procedures.
Work through approximately 25-30 different procedures per week when workload is high, adapting to changing priorities.
Collaborate with other technicians on specific projects when needed.
Partner closely with mechanical service development engineers and service integration engineers to support development and refinement of service manuals.
Perform special assignments and additional duties as requested by leadership.
Work as a self-starter, taking ownership of tasks and requiring minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality output.
Essential Skills
At least 2 years of experience as an automotive technician.
Hands-on experience working on all major areas of a vehicle, including mechanical, body, and related systems.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
At least 2 current ASE Certifications (required; candidates without 2 ASE certifications will not be considered).
Experience with vehicle validation, service, and repair activities.
Ability to perform accurate labor time measurements and time studies for removal and installation procedures.
Proficiency in documenting technical work, validations, and time study results in a clear and structured format.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to work independently as a self-starter with minimal guidance.
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to disassembly and reassembly tasks.
Comfort working in a heads-down environment while maintaining effective communication with team members and engineers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Completion of a 2-year trade school or technical program in automotive or a related field is strongly preferred.
Certification as a mechanic or completion of a recognized automotive technician program.
Experience working with mechanical service development engineers or service integration engineers.
Familiarity with automotive body repair and related procedures.
Ability to collaborate with a team of technicians while also managing individual assignments.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple procedures and special projects concurrently.
Comfort using email and tracker tools to manage daily tasks and project status.
Ability to adapt to changing workloads and priorities, including periods with a high volume of procedures.

Work Environment
This is a first-shift role with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the option to start at 7:00 a.m. for added flexibility. The position is primarily onsite in a facility environment where you will work directly on vehicles and use typical automotive tools and equipment. Once fully trained, you may work remotely one day per week, typically on a Monday or Friday, to support documentation and related tasks. You will be part of a team of approximately nine technicians and will interact regularly with mechanical service development engineers and service integration engineers who are onsite. The role emphasizes a focused, heads-down work style, with collaboration occurring as needed based on project requirements.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
