Tri-City Cheese & Meats has been a trusted wholesale distributor in Michigan since 1985. We supply independent grocers, delis, convenience stores, truck stops, and institutions across Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana with premium meats, cheeses, and specialty regional foods. Our product lineup includes well-known brands like our own Troll Smokehouse line of 100% USDA-inspected smoked meat products made right here in Kawkawlin, along with: Walnut Creek, Kowalski, Dearborn, and Kentucky Legend, to name a few. We are a small, hardworking team that takes pride in responsive service and strong customer relationships built over nearly four decades.
The Role
This is a full-time, on-site position. You will be a point of contact for our wholesale customers, handling inbound orders, answering product questions, resolving issues, and making sure deliveries happen on time. You will also look for opportunities to grow existing accounts by introducing customers to new products and promotions. This role works closely with our drivers and warehouse staff to keep things running smoothly day to day.
What You Will Do
- Answer inbound calls and emails from wholesale customers to process orders and resolve inquiries
- Enter and track orders accurately using our order management system
- Follow up on deliveries and coordinate with drivers to address any issues
- Build relationships with existing accounts and identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities
- Communicate product availability, promotions, and pricing clearly and accurately
- Handle complaints professionally and work toward fast, fair resolutions
- Support the sales team with account maintenance and outreach as needed
What We Are Looking For
- Customer service or inside sales experience preferred, but we will train the right person
- Comfortable on the phone and able to handle ambiguity and uncertainty without losing your cool
- Strong follow-through: things you say you will do, you do
- Basic computer skills; experience with order entry or inventory software is a plus
- Familiarity with food, grocery, or distribution is an advantage, not a requirement
Compensation
Starting at $15/hr. After a 90-day review, pay increases are available based on performance. We want people who grow with us.
