FOREMAN
This position is responsible for supervising the work crew consisting of 2-6 crew members. They will plan the most efficient and effective work order to perform tasks on a daily and weekly basis and is responsible for identifying, communicating, and troubleshooting problems on the job site. The Foreman is responsible for the quality of work as well as creating and ensuring a positive, professional company image on the job site.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
A) Travel to jobsites for a week or more at a time in a designated area.
B) Supervise crew of 2-6 members to effectively complete job orders.
C) Maintain responsibility for assigned equipment and vehicles.
D) Plan the most efficient and effective order to perform tasks on a day to day and a week-to-week basis.
E) Understand how equipment works and how that equipment is used to perform the job function.
F) Ensure that crew is performing daily “on the job” preventative maintenance (checking fluid levels, greasing equipment, and fueling).
G) Communicate with the shop for equipment or vehicle problems as well as required maintenance.
H) Maintain positive customer relations by relating customer needs to appropriate Construction Office Staff.
I) Ensure that all activities on assigned job site reflect on HBI in a positive manner.
J) Create a team working environment and atmosphere with crew members.
K) Explain to crew what is happening on job, by way of sharing prints.
L) Complete end of day paperwork while crew is doing end of day job cleanup.
M) Train crew members regarding all phases of utility construction.
N) Communicate with Construction Coordinator and Area Manager regarding job progress, absent crew members, and needed equipment.
O) Communicate with Human Resources regarding absent crew members and issues with crew members.
P) Produce high quality work.
Q) Keep production level cost effective.
R) Track assigned materials.
S) Understand how and where to park equipment.
T) Prepare cable route.
U) Expose existing utilities.
V) Set pedestals.
W) Drive ground rods.
X) Supervise and complete restoration.
Y) Compact trench lines.
Z) Read CATV and/or telephone prints.
AA) Operate equipment (backhoe, trencher, plow, box pusher, tamper, boring).
BB) Shore or slope trench or excavation when conditions dictate.
CC) Identify soil types.
DD) Feed cable.
EE) Supervise and prepare job site with cones, signs, barricades, and lighting.
FF) Supervise and ensure that job site is secure at the end of the day.
