CDL LABORER
The CDL Laborer is responsible for assisting the Equipment Operators and Foreman with essential tasks in order to complete the job order. The CDL Laborer is responsible for unloading and loading equipment, digging holes and locating existing utilities, preparing cable routes, feeding cable, securing the job site, placing signs and completing various other tasks as assigned by the Operator(s) and Foreman. The CDL Laborer is undergoing “on the job” training to learn how to operate equipment, read prints and to understand all phases of utility construction while performing manual labor on the job site.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
A) Work around located utilities.
B) Expose existing utilities by hand-digging.
C) Prepare cable route.
D) Feed cable.
E) Compact trench lines.
F) Train on equipment operation and print reading.
G) Take direction first from foremen and second from operators.
H) Load and unload work supplies.
I) Place signs, cones, and barricades when necessary.
J) Secure job site and equipment at the end of the day.
K) Perform daily equipment maintenance (greasing equipment, checking oil, hydraulic fluid, and fueling).
L) Transport heavy equipment following all DOT regulations.
M) Clean vehicles and equipment.
N) Complete job site restoration.
QUALIFICATIONS
A) Hold an insurance-acceptable driver’s license.
B) Class A CDL with manual transmission experience.
C) Able to perform hard physical labor.
D) Must be at least 18 years of age.
