Job Description
The Shipping Clerk / Kit Builder assembles and packages a variety of product kits that include bolts, brackets, gaskets, washers, and printed work instructions. Using clearly labeled containers, part boxes, and step-by-step documentation, this role focuses on accurately measuring, counting, and packaging components into bags or boxes for shipment. The work is straightforward and process-driven, ideal for someone who enjoys organized, hands-on tasks in a clean and well-structured environment.
Responsibilities
Build and assemble various kits by placing the correct quantity of bolts, brackets, gaskets, washers, and work instructions into designated bags or boxes.
Follow detailed work instructions to determine the exact number of pieces required in each kit and ensure all components are included.
Inspect products and materials for defects or damages before and during packaging to maintain quality standards.
Operate packaging machinery and equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with company procedures.
Measure, weigh, and count products and materials to confirm accuracy prior to packaging.
Package finished products into boxes, containers, or pallets, ensuring items are secure and organized.
Assemble, line, and pad cartons, crates, and containers using hand tools to protect products during shipment.
Label packages with correct identification and shipping information to support accurate shipping and inventory control.
Maintain an organized work area and support a smooth, efficient workflow at standing workstations.
Work assigned shifts and participate in required every-other-Saturday scheduling, with the option to volunteer for additional Saturday overtime.
Essential Skills
Ability to accurately follow written work instructions for kit building and packaging processes.
Basic math skills to measure, weigh, and count products and materials correctly.
Stable and recent work history, demonstrating reliability and commitment.
Experience or comfort with assembly tasks in a production or warehouse environment.
Experience or familiarity with shipping and receiving processes.
Ability to pass a hand dexterity test.
Capability to stand and work at standing workstations for extended periods.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience in packaging, assembly, or warehouse roles is beneficial.
Comfort using basic hand tools to assemble, line, and pad cartons, crates, and containers.
Attention to detail to identify product defects or damages and ensure accurate labeling.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple labeled containers and part boxes efficiently.
Willingness to work on a set shift schedule with every-other-Saturday requirements and optional overtime.

Work Environment
The role is based in a very organized, well-maintained, and clean facility that is well lit. Work is performed at standing work stations designed for an easy and efficient workflow. Employees work on either 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 2nd shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with a requirement to work every other Saturday and the option to volunteer for additional Saturday overtime. The environment involves hands-on assembly and packaging tasks, use of hand tools, and interaction with labeled containers, part boxes, and packaging equipment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $15.50/hr.
