Position Summary:
Candidate will be responsible for engineering of material handling systems. Each system is custom designed per client based on the optimal solution. This requires a team effort of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, controls, software, and project management. The team will develop and implement a design concept that satisfies the customer's requirement for safety, functionality, reliability, throughput, and expense.
Responsibilities
Designing/enhancing conveyor systems as well as various automated and semi-automated material handling systems; may work on phases of a larger project or an entire smaller project
Review of product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements and specifications
Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems
Prepares/Reviews approval, permit, and installation drawings using AutoCAD
Obtains material and product quotes from vendors and issues purchase orders
Helps monitor the project schedule, engineering time, and material costs
Works with other disciplines on the project team to make sure the engineered solution and all equipment fit within system confines and constraints
Travels up to 20% to measure buildings, inventory equipment, commission systems, and interface with customers
Participates in continuous improvement projects
Resolves engineering issues by working with customers, vendors and other team members
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical or Industrial, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 6 years of material handling related experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements
AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks proficiency
Microsoft Office skills - Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project.
Ability to handle multiple project assignments and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
Strong knowledge of the material handling business
Ability to interface effectively with internal and external customers, vendors, consulting engineers, architects, and installers
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
Team-oriented and collaborative
Self-motivated and detail-oriented
Ability to learn new technology
Must be able to speak, read, and understand the English language
