Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description
The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in a large-scale ERP transformation to Oracle while enhancing manufacturing execution within a highly customized, low-volume "Creative Solutions" environment. This setting focuses on 1-10 piece builds, including pump skid packages, chiller systems, and custom commercial equipment. In this role, you will serve as the bridge between engineering and manufacturing, ensuring that accurate product data flows seamlessly from Windchill (PLM) into Apriso (MES/MOM) and aligns with Oracle ERP. You will apply strong manufacturing fundamentals and system integration experience to drive efficiency, quality, and process standardization across the factory.
Responsibilities
Maintain and structure Bills of Materials (BOMs) in Windchill to ensure accurate release into Apriso.
Ensure alignment of product and process data across Windchill (PLM), Apriso (MES), and Oracle ERP systems.
Support the ERP transformation by mapping data, validating system integrations, and identifying and resolving data or process gaps.
Develop method sheets, detailed work instructions, and standardized work procedures based on BOMs.
Create and update manufacturing routings, cycle times, and process flows to support efficient production.
Design workstations, flow lines, and layouts that optimize efficiency, safety, and product quality.
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities, including throughput optimization, weld cell performance, downtime reduction, and quality improvements.
Lead or support root cause analysis activities, statistical studies, and corrective actions to address manufacturing issues.
Improve overall productivity, equipment performance, and manufacturing efficiency through data-driven initiatives.
Provide technical guidance on manufacturing processes and product design issues to support engineering and shop floor teams.
Maintain manufacturing standards such as process maps, tooling requirements, quality controls, and cycle time documentation.
Partner with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) to help ensure equipment and processes comply with OSHA requirements.
Support factory implementation activities related to the Oracle ERP rollout and associated manufacturing execution changes.
Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team of engineers to ensure shop floor execution aligns with engineering data and system configurations.
Essential Skills
5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, including hands-on work with BOMs, routings, and manufacturing process design.
Proven experience managing or supporting an ERP conversion, with the ability to bridge engineering data and shop floor execution; experience with Oracle ERP is required.
Practical experience with PLM systems, specifically Windchill.
Strong aptitude for mechanical and electrical applications as they relate to equipment and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency with AutoCAD for layout and design work.
Experience with Apriso or similar MES/MOM systems for manufacturing execution.
Ability to develop and maintain standardized work, method sheets, and detailed work instructions.
Experience leading or supporting root cause analysis, statistical studies, and corrective actions in a manufacturing context.
Demonstrated capability in manufacturing process optimization, including productivity, equipment performance, and quality improvements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred; candidates without a four-year degree are encouraged to apply if they bring strong practical experience and relevant skills.
Experience in the HVAC industry and familiarity with HVAC-related equipment and systems.
Proficiency with Creo for mechanical design and collaboration with engineering teams.
Experience with Apriso as a MES system, including data flow and integration with PLM and ERP.
Project management experience, including coordinating cross-functional activities and managing timelines related to system implementations or process changes.
Experience in process automation and implementing automated solutions to improve manufacturing efficiency.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with electrical and mechanical engineers and shop floor personnel.
Interest in long-term engagement, with the potential for contract extension or conversion after the initial six-month period tied to the Oracle implementation.
Work Environment
This is an on-site role with typical working hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You will work in a factory environment focused on highly customized, low-volume builds such as pump skid packages, chiller systems, and custom commercial equipment. The role involves close collaboration with a team of approximately 12 engineers, primarily electrical and mechanical, in a setting that emphasizes practical problem-solving, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement. You will be directly responsible for factory implementation activities related to the Oracle ERP transition and the integration of PLM and MES systems. The environment combines office-based engineering work with regular presence on the shop floor, using tools and technologies such as Windchill (PLM), Apriso (MES/MOM), Oracle ERP, AutoCAD, and Creo to support efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing operations.
