Mechanical Engineer II, Molex LLC, Grand Blanc, MI:
Support product development for vehicle antenna and other electronic components from concept to production. Develop new products and materials to support new product lines as well as current product improvements. Create and package files of our product in vehicle position and meet customer standards for CAD modeling. Create 3D and 2D drawing using CATIA and release into Ford Teamcenter. Initiate and submit change requests on time. Participate in customer engineering meetings and internal team meetings associated with customer projects and analyze customer requirements related to CAD release and packaging. Build wire/cable harnessing for antenna assemblies and other Molex products interconnecting with vehicle harnessing. Monitor customer drawings’ standards and specifications and create customer drawings to meet their standards. Select materials of construction to meet mechanical, environmental requirements while embodying the most cost-effective solutions possible. Ensure designs implement proper technologies while achieving manufacturing, cost, and timing goals. Work directly with customers, sales managers, project managers, and internal teams to identify customer requirements, establish design expectations, and meet agreed upon design, performance, and goals for projects. Develop and maintain project timelines to ensure all key deliverables are met. Coordinate activities to accomplish prototype and pilot production runs for the design of components and assemblies and meet customer needs for finished material. Coordinate project activities to ensure smooth release of products into manufacturing. Perform risk assessment tests and use results to improve design and reduce risks before reaching manufacturing. Contribute to the launch of new programs with various global manufacturing facilities. Work with other departments in obtaining samples and test data and provide information to prepare catalogs and other sales literature.
Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and two (2) years of work experience in mechanical engineering.
Must have two (2) years of experience in all of the following:
- Utilizing CAD modeling for creating and modifying 3D models of mechanical and electronic components, performing packaging studies, and ensuring designs meet customer specifications and industry standards;
- Drafting and creating technical drawings, including 2D and 3D designs, utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T);
- Ensuring drawings and models are in compliance with ASME Y14.5 standards;
- Product development from concept through production for electro-mechanical products; and
- Material selection to meet performance and environmental requirements.
Must have one (1) year of experience in the automotive industry.
