The Assistant Athletic Director is an energetic and student-centered professional who assists with the leadership, administration, compliance, operations, and promotion of the College's intercollegiate athletics program. This position serves as the department's primary administrator for NJCAA eligibility and compliance, oversees academic progress monitoring for student-athletes, coordinates game-day operations and team travel, manages athletic communications and sports information functions, and supports the overall mission of the College and Athletics Department.

Examples of Duties
Athletics Administration
- Assist the Athletic Director with the overall administration, operation, and strategic advancement of the athletics program.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the athletics office, including supervision of student employees and office staff.
- Prepare, maintain, and organize departmental records, contracts, rosters, schedules, scholarship documentation, correspondence, and reports.
Compliance and Eligibility
- Serve as a coordinator for NJCAA eligibility and compliance for all student-athletes.
- Determine, monitor, and certify student-athlete eligibility in accordance with NJCAA, MCCAA, and institutional regulations.
- Prepare and submit all required eligibility documentation, reports, and compliance materials.
- Coordinate and manage the National Letter of Intent and athletic scholarship processes.
- Assist with federal reporting requirements, including Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA) submissions and Title IX-related reporting.
Academic Success and Student Support
- Monitor academic progress, retention, and continuing eligibility of student-athletes.
- Collaborate with Mentoring, Counseling, Accommodations, Financial Aid, Academics, and other student success personnel to support student-athlete success.
- Coordinate study hall programs, progress reports, instructor feedback, and eligibility checks.
- Work with Financial Aid to ensure athletic scholarships and aid are accurately awarded and applied.
Game Operations and Facilities
- Oversee all aspects of game-day management, including event setup and teardown, administrative coverage, staffing, ticketing, concessions, promotions, and fan engagement activities.
- Coordinate facility scheduling for athletic competitions, practices, and special events.
- Manage internal and external usage requests for athletic facilities.
- Work closely with Facilities personnel to coordinate event and competition needs.
Team Travel, Equipment, and Operations
- Coordinate athletic team travel logistics in collaboration with coaches and transportation providers.
- Oversee equipment and uniform purchasing, inventory management, and distribution.
Athletic Communications and Sports Information
- Oversee maintenance and content management of the Athletics website.
- Coordinate game recaps, feature stories, statistics, photography, and other athletic communications.
- Work with Strategic Communications to manage Athletics social media platforms and digital marketing efforts.
- Supervise student workers involved in sports information, statistics, photography, video, and media operations
General Duties
- Ensure that the values of equity and inclusion are present in all efforts to best support student success and retention.
- Collect and analyze data; prepare periodic summaries and evaluative reports or documents, as required.
- Serve on shared governance committees and other designated ad hoc, college standing committees, and professional organizations.
- Support and serve as a role model for our mission, vision, strategic and service initiatives. Adhere to the organization’s policies and procedures, and compliance guidelines.
- Per the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), a federal consumer protection law, your job position entails functions that meet the definition of a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs have a duty to report any crime to the College’s Clery Compliance Officer. This information may be disclosed to them directly, through third-party, or witnessed. As a CSA, you are required to complete annual training which is provided by the College. This training encompasses your role, responsibilities, and reporting obligations.

Typical Qualifications
Education, Certification, Licensure:
- Bachelor’s Degree required in Sports Administration or related field.
Experience:
- At least one year of experience working in athletics, higher education, and/or with student-athletes preferred.
- Experience with NJCAA or NCAA compliance and eligibility processes preferred.
- Experience in game-day and event operations preferred.
- Experience managing athletic websites, social media platforms, and sports information functions preferred.
- Familiarity with community college athletics and student services preferred.
