Scope:
To perform all essential cooking duties within a commercial kitchen. This position is often the lead in the kitchen and must be able to handle a multi-station smaller kitchen on their own in all but the busiest of times. We are a scratch kitchen... no boil in the bag or prefabricated products here, we do it all! You must be ready to up your game in all you do. You are the example and standard.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Skilled in handling a variety of foods and equipment.
- Must be able to read, write, and understand all ticket abbreviations.
- Must be able to remain calm under pressure.
- Has a commitment to the quality of service, integrity of dishes served, and attention to the finest details.
- Follows all recipes to spec to insure consistency and quality of all foods served.
- Follows all presentation, plating, and special instructions as given to task.
- Actively participates in all kitchen duties as needed. This includes but is not limited to: prep work, cooking, cleaning, organizing, receivables, rotation of product, doing dishes, and daily/weekly projects as assigned.
- Ensures proper HACCP awareness, food handling, labeling, and product awareness.
- Ability to follow all written and verbal instructions.
- All other general tasks associated with the general upkeep and cleanliness of the establishment.
Qualifications
- Prior commercial kitchen experience is a must.
- 3 years experience preferred.
- General knowledge of all kitchen stations and the ability to perform on each.
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, terminology, and procedures.
- Accuracy, speed, and sense of urgency in executing tasks.
- Ability to anticipate upcoming rushes, daily stock and par levels, and general needs of the business.
- A genuine desire to be and bring out the best in your own abilities as well as those who surround you.
- Strong and efficient interpersonal relationship skills.
- Must be determined, focused, resourceful, dill gent, honorable, and trustworthy in all circumstances.
Work Schedule
- This may vary depending on the applicant. It is anticipated that this will remain a full time position ranging from 32-38 hours per week.
- Schedule will be rotating to fit the needs of the business.
- Exact hours may vary due to business volume, or other intangibles that may come into play in unique situations.
