Job Title: Mechanical Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on preparing and finishing automotive surfaces to a high standard by sanding, buffing, and detailing components. You will use a variety of hand and power tools to remove imperfections from painted surfaces and achieve a high-gloss, mirror-like finish on specialized automotive equipment. The position is ideal for someone with auto body detailing or automotive paint experience and strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys hands-on work in a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
Sand automotive and metal surfaces to remove imperfections and prepare them for finishing.
Buff painted and finished surfaces to achieve a high-gloss, mirror-like appearance.
Use hand tools and power tools, including drills, screw guns, caulk guns, angle grinders, and other power tools, to perform mechanical and finishing tasks.
Perform auto body detailing tasks such as surface preparation, cleaning, and finishing as needed.
Follow detailed measurements using a tape measure with precision to ensure accurate assembly and finishing.
Assemble mechanical components and parts according to specifications and work instructions.
Inspect work for quality, ensuring surfaces are smooth, properly finished, and meet company standards.
Work collaboratively in a team environment, communicating clearly and professionally with coworkers and supervisors.
Follow directions, production plans, and safety procedures to complete tasks efficiently and correctly.
Perform physically demanding tasks, including frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and climbing up and down ladders.
Lift and move materials and components weighing up to 40 pounds as part of daily work.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and equipment safely and responsibly.
Essential Skills
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and perform hands-on mechanical tasks.
Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for precise measurements, with 2+ years of experience.
Ability to use hand tools and power tools such as drills, screw guns, and caulk guns, with 2+ years of experience.
Experience using power tools and angle grinders for sanding and surface preparation.
Experience in sanding and buffing surfaces to remove imperfections and achieve a high-quality finish.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to shared goals.
Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and follow directions.
Physical ability to perform frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and climbing up and down ladders.
Ability to safely lift and carry up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50/hr.
