Job Title: Maintenance Technician - 2nd/3rd Shift
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician will work on 2nd/3rd shift and perform maintenance on a wide range of machinery and systems throughout the plant. This role focuses on keeping processing equipment, refrigeration systems, boiler room operations, waste plant equipment, and building infrastructure in safe, reliable working order. The technician follows a preventive maintenance schedule, responds to breakdowns, and supports the implementation of a new production line, all while working flexibly within a union environment.
Responsibilities
Perform maintenance and repairs on all machines and equipment throughout the plant, including processing equipment, refrigeration systems, boiler room equipment, and waste plant systems.
Conduct building maintenance and seasonal preparation to ensure the facility remains safe, efficient, and compliant with safety standards.
Follow and complete preventive maintenance (PM) schedules as assigned by supervisors and managers to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production and support equipment.
Inspect, diagnose, and service 3-phase motors, conveyor systems, and industrial machinery to maintain consistent operation.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams to perform accurate installations and repairs.
Use hand tools and industrial maintenance tools safely and effectively to perform maintenance tasks and equipment installations.
Assist with the installation, setup, and adjustment of new equipment and production lines, including motion control systems and PLC-controlled systems.
Perform PLC troubleshooting to identify and resolve control system issues that impact equipment performance.
Monitor equipment for unusual noises, vibrations, or performance changes and take corrective action to prevent failures.
Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage according to plant procedures and communicate equipment status to supervisors.
Collaborate with other maintenance team members and production staff to prioritize tasks and support continuous plant operations.
Work flexibly within a union environment, adapting to changing priorities and supporting coverage needs on 2nd shift and occasional weekends.
Adhere to all plant safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and regulatory requirements while performing maintenance work.
Essential Skills
At least 2 years of maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Hands-on experience working with 3-phase motors, including troubleshooting and repair.
Practical knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics for troubleshooting and maintaining fluid power systems.
Ability to perform preventive maintenance on industrial equipment according to established schedules.
Mechanical aptitude with experience in industrial maintenance and equipment repair.
Electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience with 3-phase power and industrial electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
Experience with conveyor systems and related mechanical components.
Proficiency in using hand tools and industrial maintenance tools safely and effectively.
Basic PLC troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve control-related issues.
Ability to work 2nd shift and regularly work 40-50 hours per week.
Strong commitment to safety and adherence to plant safety standards and procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with motion control systems and their integration into production equipment.
Additional experience with motors beyond basic operation and maintenance.
Prior experience with PLC-controlled systems in an industrial environment.
Experience in refrigeration, boiler room operations, or waste plant systems.
Experience working within a union environment and adapting to related processes and guidelines.
Comfort working in a high-demand environment with occasional weekend work and overtime.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex equipment issues.

Work Environment
This role is for 2nd shift, with schedules noted as 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and typically involves working 40-50 hours per week. The position offers ample opportunity for overtime, and technicians may rotate weekend work but are not expected to work every weekend. The environment is a unionized industrial plant with a variety of processing equipment, refrigeration systems, boiler room operations, waste plant equipment, and building infrastructure. Work involves regular use of hand tools, industrial maintenance tools, and interaction with 3-phase electrical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, motors, and PLC-controlled equipment. Technicians follow preventive maintenance schedules and respond to equipment issues in a production setting where safety standards and procedures are strictly enforced.

The pay range for this position is $49000.00 - $66000.00/yr.
