This is a temporary, full-time one academic year position. Assignment is instruction over the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters with an expectation of regular campus presence. Work may require day and/or evening hours at various locations. Potential opportunity to teach summer courses if desired.
Position Summary
Kellogg Community College is recruiting for a highly motivated individual with strong leadership skills to assume the role of Instructor for courses of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program. This person must possess a current Paramedic and EMS Instructor-Coordinator license by the date of hire August 2026.
This full-time temporary position reports to the Director of Allied Health Education. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to ongoing maintenance of current and relevant curriculum design and delivery, engagement with administration in program planning and coordination, active participation to assure continued program accreditation standards, State approval requirements, and program effectiveness benchmarks are met. This is a one academic year (Fall 2026 and Spring 2027), temporary full-time, non-tenure track faculty position.
Physical Demands
The job responsibilities are performed in an office area and presentation venues. Travel by car required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as independent mobility between work areas, sitting, stooping, bending, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 - 45 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations.
Minimum Qualifications
• Associate degree from an accredited college or university at the time of hire - at the time of application, attach unofficial transcripts showing completed coursework and degree conferred
• Teaching experience
• Current Michigan Licensed Paramedic
• Current Michigan Licensed EMS Instructor-Coordinator (Paramedic level)
• American Heart Association Instructor (any level)
• Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in Emergency Medical Services
Proposed Salary

Job Duties
Essential Function: INSTRUCTION
Description:
• Provide instruction to students in accordance with the policies and practices of Kellogg Community College (KCC) and of the Allied Health Department.
• Engage with Business and Industry, and with faculty colleagues to ensure current and relevant curriculum necessary for the contemporary Emergency Medical Services (EMS) workforce is maintained.
• Develop curriculum in the EMS programs of study. Determine intended course outcomes and develop learning activities and assessments necessary to achieve course outcomes.
• Collaborate with the EMS Faculty Coordinator and industry experts to ensure correlation between clinical education and didactic education to support student learning outcomes.
• Develop and utilize technology to advance student learning, including high fidelity medical simulation and other existing/emerging technologies that serves to bridge theory with practice.
• Coordinate lab activities with didactic course content including simulation.
• Reach out to advise, mentor, and re-mediate students in need.
• Submit student grades and class records according to the determined policies and deadlines.
• Identify qualified EMS adjunct faculty and provide them with mentorship.
• Actively participate to maintain ongoing program accreditation and State approval.
• Serve in the role of program expert for students and others seeking information about the EMS Program. Participate in activities to promote the profession of EMS and encourage enrollment and completion.
• Engage in collaborative partnerships with local business and industry, K-12 school systems, and other post-secondary educational institutions in efforts to enhance enrollment and provide rich and efficient learning experiences for students.
• Participate in the EMS program continuous quality improvement processes to ensure program effectiveness. Develop strategies intended to address student success, cost efficiency, and Perkins Core Performance Indicators.
