Manufacturing Tooling Engineer (Machining & Tool Design)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Tooling Engineer to support tube and carrier machining operations. This role focuses on tooling development, manufacturing process improvement, quality initiatives, and continuous improvement activities to ensure efficient and capable machining processes.
Key Responsibilities
Support machining processes through tooling development and implementation.
Support implementation of tooling tracking systems.
Identify tooling-critical features and implement appropriate process controls.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
Complete PPAP quality launch documentation.
Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to improve manufacturing processes and products.
Develop action plans to investigate production issues, prioritize corrective actions, and verify process improvements.
Lead and conduct process audits to ensure adherence to manufacturing guidelines.
Develop process documentation and work instructions supporting quality methods and manufacturing processes.
Deliver capable tooling and machining processes.
Lead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives.
Ensure compliance with applicable plant, corporate, governmental, and environmental standards.
Support ISO 14001 compliance and internal auditing activities.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum 5 years of related manufacturing engineering experience.
Experience supporting high-production machining tool manufacturing.
Experience with tool design.
Experience programming tool presetters (Royal/Zoller).
Strong leadership ,teamwork, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
Experience with 8D and 5 Why problem-solving methodologies.
Knowledge of Lean tools including:
5S
Kanban
Poka-Yoke
Value Stream Mapping
Experience with DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) methodologies.
Experience with FMEA, PPAP, and Design of Experiments (DOE).
