Job Title: Pipefitter
Job Description
The Pipefitter will fabricate, assemble, and install piping systems for industrial refrigeration units, including natural gas-fueled gas train assemblies and burners for HVAC units. This role works extensively with ammonia-based refrigeration systems and involves close collaboration with welders to complete projects. The Pipefitter will read and interpret blueprints, cut and lay out pipe and valves, and prepare piping for welders, working with stainless steel, carbon steel, and galvanized pipe that is threaded, grooved, or fitted with mechanical joints.
Responsibilities
Fabricate, assemble, and install industrial piping systems for refrigeration units and HVAC gas train assemblies.
Work with ammonia-based refrigeration systems in industrial environments such as food plants and cold storage facilities.
Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to plan piping layouts and installations.
Cut, measure, and lay out pipe and valves according to specifications and project requirements.
Prepare piping systems for welders, including threading, grooving, and fitting mechanical joints.
Collaborate closely with welders and other team members to complete piping and fabrication work safely and efficiently.
Install glycol and water piping systems associated with boiler operations.
Work with stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and galvanized pipe in various configurations.
Perform mechanical fitting, soldering, brazing, and plumbing tasks as required for complete piping systems.
Use hand tools and power tools safely to cut, thread, fit, and install piping components.
Assist with installation and maintenance of sprinkler systems and other industrial piping applications as needed.
Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines while working in industrial settings and on travel assignments.
Travel to out-of-state job sites and work a 10 days on / 4 days off schedule when required.
Maintain reliable attendance and readiness for both shop work and field installations.
Contribute to a collaborative team environment, ensuring projects are completed with high quality and within established timelines.
Essential Skills
At least 5 years of industrial pipefitting experience.
Experience with glycol and water piping systems, including boiler-related piping.
Hands-on experience working with stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum piping.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and piping schematics accurately.
Proficiency with industrial piping installation, including threading, grooving, and mechanical fittings.
Experience in fabrication of piping systems and working alongside welders on industrial projects.
Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with plumbing and piping systems in industrial settings.
Competence in using hand tools and basic power tools for cutting, fitting, and installing pipe.
OSHA 10 certification.
Willingness and ability to travel and work a 10 days on / 4 days off schedule.
Access to and use of a reliable vehicle for travel to job sites.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Tig or stick welding experience is preferred.
Experience with brazing, soldering, and sprinkler system installation is beneficial.
Experience in industrial construction and mechanical fitting is an advantage.
Familiarity with ammonia piping systems in food plants or cold storage facilities is helpful.
B31.5 certification is a plus.
Strong blueprint reading skills and attention to detail in layout and installation work.
Comfort working in team-based environments and coordinating with multiple welders and fabricators.
Ability to adapt to different job sites and industrial settings outside of California.

Work Environment
This role primarily operates on first shift, with typical shop or in-town hours from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. When traveling to out-of-state job sites, the schedule generally runs from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on a 10 days on / 4 days off rotation. Work is performed in industrial environments, including facilities with ammonia piping such as food plants and cold storage operations in various states outside of California. The position involves frequent collaboration with a growing team of welders and pipefitters, and projects are completed as a team rather than individually. A per diem is provided for travel days to cover housing and meals, and PPE is supplied to support safe and compliant work in these industrial settings.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
