Inside the Stellantis propulsion functional safety organization, the teams aim at ensuring the safety of the calibrated propulsion control system, for every region where Stellantis vehicles are sold. Moreover, the teams lead the execution of all safety and diagnostic activities for the different programs and are the propulsion safety primary contact to the different Project chiefs.
The Functional Safety Engineer plays a key role in designing and delivering the regulatory and non-regulatory safety requirements, and the functional safety requirements (per ISO26262), for propulsion system electronic controls design and development. They support the propulsion program execution by participation in supplier requirements review, Safety Release reviews, development and validation activities, and issue solving and will perform detailed requirements development for new features and/or newly integrated electronic controls functionality.
The propulsion system safety engineer is responsible for:
Creating, reviewing and maintaining the Hazard Analysis & Risk Assessment
Producing safety analysis (Fault Tree analysis, DFA and other methods as per ISO26262) and Technical Safety Concepts to mitigate the risks and avoid any safety goal is infringed.
Fostering genericity of the concepts across the different programs
Leading requirements reviews with the stakeholders and get their approval
Ensuring Confirmation Reviews with Stellantis Global Safety Forum
Supporting the creation and the evaluation of Controllability metrics and a Controllability preassessment report
Supporting the planning of Safety Verification & Validation activities at different integration levels
Arbitrating the small gaps and escalating the major gaps to Propulsion System Safety Manager and safety Tech Fellow
Supporting the creation of test cases (DVP), their execution and evaluation of the results
Contributing to the Safety Assessment of the item
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related degree field
Curiosity, rigor and a good organization are required
Knowledge of electrical or hybrid powertrains and it's control.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Science degree in Engineering
Demonstrated working level experience in functional safety.
Demonstrated working level experience in decomposing intended function into requirements inclusive of many of the following: Electric drive systems, gear train systems, powertrain integration, high voltage electronics, low voltage electronics, motor controls, communication protocols, sensors, and software.
