Job Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production operations to ensure the efficient, safe, and timely manufacturing of quality products. This role provides direct supervision of production associates, coordinates production activities with cross-functional departments, monitors product quality, and promotes continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining compliance with food safety, quality, and workplace safety standards.
Job Responsibilities
Supervise daily production operations to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and delivery requirements are achieved.
Provide leadership, coaching, training, and performance feedback to production associates.
Promote a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Maintain compliance with food safety, food defense, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other quality requirements.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and increase productivity.
Coordinate production startup activities, including reviewing production orders, verifying equipment readiness, and confirming operating conditions.
Monitor product quality and implement approved formula or process adjustments as required.
Prepare production schedules and ensure adequate staffing to meet operational requirements.
Coordinate with maintenance, sanitation, shipping, and other departments to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
Maintain accurate production records related to safety, quality, key performance indicators, and production output.
Support compliance with food safety and quality programs, regulatory requirements, and third-party audit standards.
Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions as needed.
Promote Lean manufacturing principles and continuous process improvement.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Minimum of 2 to 5 years of supervisory experience in a production, food manufacturing, food processing, or fast-paced manufacturing environment required.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Some college coursework preferred.
Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with workforce management systems such as Kronos preferred.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of food safety principles, GMP, HACCP, and quality systems.
Understanding of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Some college coursework preferred.
Work Experience
