Are you our Machinist - CNC Float?
This role reports directly to the Machine Shop Manager at our Atlas Copco-Grayling, MI facility. You will have the opportunity to assist with various CNC Machine shop department tasks and learn about the overall production process - all while learning the trade!
Here's how you'll make an impact:
Run various machine shop grinders/sanders to debur or prep machined parts
Complete shop clean-up duties; floor, emptying of debris bins, lubricant changes, etc.
Assist a CNC Machinist with part change-outs
Receive mentee guidance from an experienced CNC Machinist to begin to learn set-up parameters, do's and don'ts of milling, etc.
Learn about Shop Safety Best Practices and Procedures
Learn to read blueprints and quality inspect parts
Move product within and across buildings
Other duties as assigned to help the Machining department with tasks, as well as facilitate learning
Schedule: Due to current workload, work schedule expectations are Monday through Friday (some Saturdays) - 45-55 hours per week. This is subject to change at any time and at manager discretion.
To succeed, you will need
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Tool Experience: Basic understanding and knowledge of hand tools and how to read/use a tape measure.
CNC Experience: Preferred hands-on experience or CNC Machinist student - preferably ready to start final year of degree or certificate program.
Basic Computer Skills: Good working knowledge of computers.
Desire to Learn New Things: Willingness to take on various duties in the Machining department, even if not directly related to running a machine.
Team Player: Great team player and hard worker who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty
