Job Description:
Reports To: Director of Maintenance
CHI Aviation is seeking a skilled Part-Time Welder to support fabrication, repair, and modification work at our Howell, MI facility. This position assists with welding, metal fabrication, and shop support for aircraft-related components, ground support equipment, and other operational needs. The ideal candidate has strong welding skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a hands-on maintenance environment.
Responsibilities:
Perform welding, fabrication, and repairs on steel, aluminum, and other metals.
Fabricate and modify brackets, mounts, frames, fixtures, and structural components.
Read and interpret basic drawings, sketches, and work instructions.
Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
Inspect completed work to ensure quality, proper fit, alignment, and workmanship.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and operations personnel as needed.
Follow all company safety procedures and work instructions.
All other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Minimum of two (2) years of welding or metal fabrication experience preferred.
Experience with MIG and TIG welding preferred.
Aluminum welding experience preferred.
Ability to fabricate from drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred, but not required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
