Summary This position is organizationally located in the VTS Veteran Transportation Service Section of the Business Office, providing administrative support for the Medical Center's Interfacility transfer and travel process. The Patient Transfer/Transportation Coordinator is responsible for arranging the safe transfer of patients to and from Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical facilities and non-VA facilities. Responsibilities Major duties include, but are not limited to: Processes beneficiary travel claims utilizing the BTSSS, ECAMS, IPPS and HSRM programs. Coordinates and monitors the patient transfers throughout the process, intervening when necessary to ensure a positive outcome. Works with community facilities, other VA facilities and other veteran organizations to coordinate patient transportation. Tracks denied transfers/transportation for Mobility Manger to review. Initiates and coordinates Patient transportation accurately and timely, as required for scheduled appointments with various services and clinics at outside facilities and other VA Medical Centers. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/10/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
