Job Title: Journeyman Electrician
Job Description
This 1st shift Journeyman Electrician role (7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing complex industrial electrical systems, robotics, and production machinery in a manufacturing environment. You ensure the reliability and safe operation of automated production lines by performing expert electrical work, diagnosing system issues, and supporting continuous improvement while adhering to strict safety standards.
Responsibilities
Install power supply wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus for new industrial machinery, including robots, conveyors, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation to plan and execute accurate installations and repairs.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctioning electrical apparatus such as transformers, motors, electronic controls, and lighting fixtures.
Identify and replace faulty electrical components including relays, switches, sensors, printed circuit boards (PCBs), and electric motor bearings.
Program and adjust automated machinery using robot controllers, teach pendants, and PLCs, and run operational tests to verify proper function and repair quality.
Perform preventative electrical maintenance, including scheduled inspections, testing, and cleaning of equipment to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
Maintain accurate records of work orders, repairs, and machinery modifications to support traceability, safety, and continuous improvement efforts.
Collaborate with Maintenance Machine Repairers, Tool Makers, and other technical staff to distinguish electrical issues from mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic problems and resolve them efficiently.
Install, bend, and route conduit and wiring in accordance with electrical codes and internal standards for industrial installations.
Support production operations by responding promptly to equipment breakdowns and implementing effective corrective actions.
Follow all safety regulations and best practices when working with live circuits, high-voltage equipment, robotics, and production machinery.
Contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient maintenance work area and help identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and plant performance.
Essential Skills
Current Journeyman Electrician license.
Proven experience in industrial manufacturing environments performing electrical installation, maintenance, and repair.
Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
Hands-on experience with equipment installation, including power supply wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus for industrial machinery.
Advanced troubleshooting skills for electrical systems, including transformers, motors, electronic controls, and lighting fixtures.
Ability to install, bend, and route conduit and wiring to industrial standards and electrical codes.
Working knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical systems, and pneumatics sufficient to collaborate effectively with other maintenance specialists.
Experience programming, testing, and verifying automated equipment using PLCs, robot controllers, and teach pendants.
Strong repair skills for industrial equipment, including component-level replacement of relays, switches, sensors, PCBs, and motor components.
Ability to perform preventative maintenance tasks and maintain detailed records of work orders and equipment modifications.
Commitment to following strict safety regulations and procedures when working with electrical and automated systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience supporting automated manufacturing lines and robotic systems in a production environment.
Familiarity with industrial installation practices and standards for electrical systems.
Ability to work cross-functionally with maintenance, tooling, and production teams to solve complex equipment issues.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and recordkeeping.
Effective communication skills to explain technical issues and solutions to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment
This role is based in an industrial manufacturing facility, working on 1st shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You spend most of your time on the production floor, working with automated fire protection manufacturing lines, industrial robots, conveyors, PLC-controlled equipment, and related electrical systems. The environment is hands-on and fast-paced, with regular interaction with maintenance, tooling, and production teams. Work involves using standard electrical tools, test equipment, and diagnostic devices, as well as robot controllers and teach pendants. You follow established safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment suitable for an industrial setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $66414.00 - $76731.00/yr.
