Job Title: Yard Construction Laborer - Mobile Trailer Preparation
Job Description
This role focuses on preparing mobile trailers for construction projects by performing a mix of carpentry, light repairs, cleaning, and basic mechanical checks in a yard and shop environment. You will ensure each unit is safe, clean, and fully functional before it goes to the job site, using hand and power tools, forklifts, and your attention to detail to deliver a high-quality finished product.
Responsibilities
Clean, repair, and prepare mobile trailers in the yard and shop so they are ready for use on construction projects.
Perform carpentry tasks such as repairing holes, replacing or repairing panels, and completing finish carpentry work as needed.
Carry out light painting to touch up surfaces and ensure trailers present a clean, professional appearance.
Install plugs and switches (without live power) and verify that basic electrical fixtures are properly mounted and secure.
Check and confirm that heating and air conditioning systems in the trailers are functioning correctly.
Clean windows, blinds, doors, and other interior and exterior surfaces to ensure each unit is thoroughly cleaned before deployment.
Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for construction, repair, and finishing tasks.
Operate sit-down forklifts or large skytrak equipment to load and unload trailers in the yard.
Lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily tasks.
Maintain a high standard of quality by paying close attention to detail and taking pride in the final appearance of each trailer.
Work collaboratively with team members to complete trailer preparation efficiently and meet project timelines.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working in the shop and yard, including when using tools and operating forklifts.
Adapt to varying work demands and assist with additional tasks needed to ensure all units are ready to go.
Essential Skills
Hands-on construction experience, including cleaning, basic carpentry, and general labor tasks.
Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for construction and repair work.
Ability to perform plug and switch installation (without live power) in mobile trailer units.
Experience with finish carpentry tasks such as patching holes, fitting panels, and completing detailed repairs.
Forklift experience, including operating sit-down forklifts or large skytrak equipment in a yard or shop environment.
Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly throughout the workday.
Strong attention to detail, with a focus on completing the small finishing tasks that impact the overall appearance and quality of the trailers.
Comfort working in a construction-related environment that involves both indoor and outdoor duties.
Reliability and consistency in job performance and tenure, with a stable work history.
Ability to work extended hours during peak construction season, averaging 50-55 hours per week.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Mig welding experience, highly preferred for trailer repair and fabrication tasks.
Arc welding experience, highly preferred and considered a strong asset.
General welding experience in a construction, yard, or shop environment.
Experience in general labor roles within construction or industrial settings.
Demonstrated leadership experience or the ability to take initiative and support team coordination.
Strong work ethic and pride in producing high-quality finished work.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and assist with a variety of tasks as needed.

Work Environment
This role is based in both indoor shop and outdoor yard settings, providing a mix of covered and open-air work areas. You will work in all types of weather conditions, including cold, rain, snow, sun, heat, and wind, so you should be comfortable working outdoors year-round. The position follows a first-shift schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with hours increasing to approximately 50-55 per week during construction season. You will regularly use hand tools, power tools, and forklifts, including sit-down forklifts and large skytrak equipment, in a busy yard environment. The work involves physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds and moving around the yard and shop throughout the day. Dress is practical and safety-focused, suitable for construction and yard work, with appropriate protective equipment used as required.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
