Job Summary: Operates machinery and performs assembly tasks, conducts basic part inspections to meet production goals while ensuring quality and cleanliness. Understands company expectations, production metrics (OEE), and follows established processes and procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Verify that all components, materials, and tools required for the job are available and correct.
- Understand company goal for machine setups, maximizing uptime by reducing downtime.
- Operate machinery or participate in manual assembly processes while ensuring targets (e.g., parts per hour) are consistently met.
- Conduct hourly inspections and complete all required documentation, such as operator logs, machine setups, inspection reports, job travelers, and setup sheets.
- Measure parts regularly and document sizes every hour to ensure product quality.
- Follow all ISO and internal procedures for product labeling, cleanliness, and specifications.
- Keep work areas, tooling shadow boards, and shared equipment clean, organized, and in proper working condition.
- Communicate promptly with team leaders regarding defects, scrap parts, or Plex system issues to minimize downtime. Team Lead must be notified at second scrap.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and help train peers on best practices to meet production goals.
- Report missing tools at the start of the shift and ensure safe storage of equipment (e.g., brooms, shovels) when not in use.
- Assist material handlers by notifying them when jobs are complete, and materials need to be returned to inventory.
- Basic understanding of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Which includes, Cycle Time Achievement (Parts/Hour), Good Parts Rate (Quality), and Availability (Up Time vs. Down Time).
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, part specifications, and quality guidelines.
- Capable of using measuring tools (e.g., tape measures) for quality inspections.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow structured processes with attention to detail.
- Basic problem-solving and troubleshooting skills related to production and assembly processes.
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, twist, and lift for extended periods.
- Frequent physical activity, including lifting up to 50 lbs. repeatedly.
- Manual dexterity to handle parts, tools, and operate equipment safely.
Education/Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment is a plus but not required.
