CNC Machinist - Grand Rapids, MI
Job Description
Seeking a skilled CNC machinist to support production of high-quality, tight-tolerance components used in aerospace and defense applications. This role is responsible for machine setup, operation, and inspection while ensuring strict adherence to quality and safety standards
Responsibilities
Operate and set up 3-5 axis CNC mills/lathes to produce correct parts in a timely manner.
Perform job setups on assigned machines, including tool changes.
Conduct first piece, in-process, and last piece inspections using micrometers, calipers, comparators, various gauges, and CMM equipment.
Perform data collection and communication tasks using Job Boss and other applications.
Carry out operator maintenance, diagnosing and correcting equipment or tool issues.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
2+ years of experience in CNC Machining with 3 to 5 axis machinery.
Firm understanding of machining center theory, including x, y, and z axis, along with edge and center line pickup.
Proficiency in using micrometers, calipers, gauges, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Environment
Work in a job shop machining center tailored for the Aerospace industry, handling runs ranging from 20-70 pieces. Parts are complex and require close tolerances. Training occurs on the first shift for 30-90 days, followed by 10-12 hour shifts with flexible start times and shift premiums. The environment supports non-programming roles as programming is managed by Process Engineers

The pay range for this position is $54080.00 - $62400.00/yr.
