Position Summary

The Meat & Deli Clerk is responsible for providing outstanding customer service while assisting customers at Lambert's Meat Market's full-service meat counter, full-service deli counter, and broasted chicken station. This position requires a friendly, dependable individual who can safely prepare, package, stock, and sell meat and deli products while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and product quality.

This position is part-time, 30 hours per week, paid time off and 401K included.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Service

• Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Assist customers with meat and deli selections.
• Answer questions regarding products, preparation methods, and cooking recommendations.
• Accurately weigh, package, label, and price products.
• Take special orders and communicate customer requests to management when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, attractive, and organized service counter.

Meat Counter Responsibilities

• Wait on customers at the full-service meat counter.
• Cut, package, wrap, and label products as directed.
• Stock meat cases and displays with fresh product.
• Rotate inventory using First In, First Out (FIFO) procedures.
• Monitor product quality and remove outdated or damaged items.
• Assist with grinding, packaging, and preparation of meat products as trained.

Deli Counter Responsibilities

• Slice meats and cheeses according to customer specifications.
• Stock deli displays and coolers.
• Package and label deli products.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of slicers and deli equipment.
• Monitor freshness and quality of all deli products.

Broasted Chicken Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook broasted chicken according to company procedures.
• Maintain proper cooking temperatures and holding times.
• Package and display finished products.
• Monitor inventory levels and prepare products as needed.
• Clean and sanitize broaster equipment and preparation areas.
• Follow all food safety guidelines for handling raw and cooked products.

Sanitation and Food Safety

• Follow all USDA, FDA, Michigan Department of Agriculture, and local health department regulations.
• Maintain proper handwashing and personal hygiene standards.
• Clean and sanitize equipment, work surfaces, utensils, and department areas.
• Properly record temperatures and complete required food safety logs.
• Report food safety concerns immediately to management.

General Store Responsibilities

• Assist with stocking shelves, coolers, and displays.
• Help unload deliveries and put away products.
• Maintain a safe work environment.
• Assist other departments as needed.
• Complete opening and closing duties.
• Perform additional duties assigned by management.
