district’s vehicle fleet, checking for newly reported mechanical concerns, and
prioritizing maintenance and repair needs. The position coordinates daily work
assignments, monitors preventive maintenance schedules, and ensures buses, vans,
service vehicles, and equipment are safe and ready for operation.
Throughout the day, the position works with transportation staff, vendors, and
district personnel to address repairs, obtain parts, manage outside services, and
minimize vehicle downtime. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate
service and inspection records, monitoring parts inventory and repair costs, and
ensuring compliance with applicable safety, inspection, and regulatory
requirements.
The day may also involve responding to unexpected breakdowns or urgent
maintenance issues, reviewing fleet performance, approving purchases or repairs,
and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and control costs. Before the end
of the day, the position confirms that priority work has been completed, updates
maintenance records, and prepares for upcoming service needs to support safe and
