Experienced Assembler
PURPOSE: This position is responsible for the assembly of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components/products, assembly of subassemblies and products, packaging, shipping, and cutting, marking of products according to work orders and blueprints to meet or exceed quality standards, and maintain equipment properly to reduce or eliminate downtime.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Understand and follow all safety guidelines and protocols as set forth by company.
- Operate pneumatic or electric tools and various hand tools like; air nailers, staplers, wrenches, vice grips, drills, electric saws, hand saws, hammers, drill presses, riveters, sanders, belt sanders, grinders, die grinders, routers, jigs, fixtures, and other assembly devices.
- Daily or weekly maintenance of small tools, to keep in safe and good working condition.
- Understand how to complete assembly work as required using blueprints. Read and interpret assembly schematics.
- Work with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.
- Assemble parts products, samples, and specials as per customer specifications.
- Final quality check before product is packaged and shipped to customer or have quality auditor verify work.
- This position is responsible for proper preparation and packaging of product for shipment/delivery of product in factory condition.
- Build crates, pallets, and boxes for production as needed.
- Assist department and planning team with part numbers, inventory counts, maintaining inventory levels, cycle counting, and other information as requested.
- Repair, disassemble, and assemble products as required.
- Crosstrain in different work areas as production needs require.
- Ensures proper storage and usage of hazardous and flammable materials.
- Effectively communicates with other departments regarding completed parts or product to facilitate on time shipment.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assemble products according to engineering specifications with the highest level of quality while meeting established production standards.
- Meet schedule commitments required by each respective division.
- Make suggestions for improvement to products and processes.
- Complete quality assembly of products while meeting established production standards.
- Properly package product to ensure timely shipment as well as delivery of product in factory condition.
- Perform material handling duties in a safe and effective manner.
- Assemble and tests complex products, samples and specials with advanced skills.
- Be able to assist the department in maintaining accurate inventory levels and cycle counting.
- Responsible for executing and supporting the quality system and procedures in the effort for continuous improvement. This includes proper reporting of material shortages, rejections, QIRs, etc.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
