We are seeking an Isotope Production Technician to join our Manufacturing Operations team in Lansing, Michigan. Position Summary
The Isotope Production Technician is responsible for supporting the safe operation, routine maintenance, and monitoring of particle accelerators producing alpha-particle-emitting radioisotopes. The position will support reliable accelerator performance and radioisotope production activities while maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory and safety requirements.
In this role you have the opportunity to:
- Assist in maintaining operational readiness of accelerator systems and supporting equipment
- Perform routine and scheduled preventive maintenance on cyclotrons and associated systems following approved procedures
- Support troubleshooting efforts involving electronic, electro-pneumatic, vacuum, cooling water, and auxiliary systems
- Monitor accelerator performance and report abnormal operating conditions
- Accurately complete operational records, maintenance documentation, logbooks, checklists, and preventive maintenance reports
- Handle inventory management of accelerator-related consumables, spare parts, and maintenance supplies
- Assist with radioactive waste handling and disposal activities in accordance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requirements under supervision
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within operations and maintenance activities
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Associate degree or equivalent technical training in radiochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, nuclear engineering, physics, engineering, or a related field
- Experience with cyclotron operations, accelerator systems, industrial equipment, manufacturing equipment, or related technical systems
- Must possess or be able to obtain required licenses and certifications to perform essential job functions
- Experience in radioisotope manufacturing or handling, preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific or engineering discipline, preferred
- Experience working in regulated manufacturing, laboratory, or technical environments, preferred
- Foundational scientific and technical knowledge with an interest in developing expertise in accelerator operations
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and safety requirements consistently
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn complex technical systems
- Ability to work flexible hours and rotating schedules to support operational demands
