Job Description
SUMMARY:
Exciting short-term opportunity for a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor to step into a hands-on leadership role with a growing automotive manufacturer in Livonia, MI. You'll lead a team of 16 in a fast-paced machine shop environment, driving daily production, tracking output, and ensuring smooth shift operations-all while working closely with experienced maintenance and leadership teams. This is a great opportunity to make an immediate impact, gain exposure to a well-run facility, and step into a visible role with a quick interview process and ASAP start.
Oversees daily production operations, ensuring safety, quality, and output targets are met
Leads shift meetings and communicates production status
Tracks production metrics, downtime, and workforce attendance
Coordinates with maintenance and leadership to resolve issues quickly
Ensures adherence to safety, quality, and company policies
Acts as first-response lead for safety and operational issues
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day production floor operations and workflow prioritization
Lead and supervise production staff; provide direction and coaching
Monitor production output, quality, and performance metrics
Track parts production, machine downtime, and labor utilization (Plex system)
Conduct shift handoff meetings and production updates
Partner with maintenance to address equipment issues
Submit reports on production progress and performance
Enforce safety standards, policies, and procedures
Support continuous improvement (lean/5S initiatives)
Assist with employee relations, coaching, and issue resolution
Shift is 2pm to 10pm, Monday - Friday sometimes Saturday

Skills and Requirements
Years of manufacturing experience (specifically CNC / automotive manufacturing)
1+ year supervising production teams in a manufacturing environment
Background in machine shop / machining environment (not molding)
Experience in automotive manufacturing preferred (not required)
Experience working in union environments preferred
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to read/interpret blueprints
Experience with safety standards and production processes
Ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment - Experience with Plex (manufacturing ERP system) or similar strongly preferred
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Tracking production metrics, downtime, and reporting
Automotive Tier 2 environment experience
Lean manufacturing / continuous improvement experience
Experience with high-speed machining or automated equipment
Previous experience optimizing processes or reducing costs
