The Phillip Charles Group has been servicing the local Metro Detroit area for the past 30 years and has built incredibly strong partnerships with our clients, candidates, and employees. Our current client of 10 years is looking for a strong Quality Technician for a Temporary opportunity in their Saline, MI location.
Pay: $25-$30/hr dependent on experience
Duration: about 6 months (July- December)
Quality Technician Responsibilities:
- Partner with suppliers to drive compliance with quality standards, engineering specifications, and manufacturing best practices. Provide technical guidance and coaching to ensure prototype parts meet design intent and customer expectations.
- Perform comprehensive evaluations of prototype components, including dimensional verification, visual inspections, functional assessments, and conformance reviews to support part approval and readiness for vehicle builds.
- Review, assess, and approve critical quality documentation, including Prototype Parts Inspection Reports (PPIR), Prototype Part Quality Demonstration Reports (PPQDR), Quality Confirmation Meeting (QCM) documentation, First Inspection Reports (FIR), and other quality records to ensure compliance and readiness.
- Monitor supplier performance, identify quality risks, and collaborate with suppliers to implement corrective and preventive actions that support program milestones and quality objectives.
- Support prototype procurement activities, including order placement, delivery tracking, supplier communication, and logistics coordination to ensure timely availability of prototype components.
- Develop and deliver training on quality tools, methodologies, problem-solving techniques, and company-specific quality systems to strengthen supplier capabilities and drive continuous improvement.
- Provide hands-on support during prototype vehicle builds, conducting inspections, troubleshooting issues, facilitating containment actions, and delivering real-time feedback to suppliers and cross-functional teams.
- Lead and support investigations of quality concerns and part failures using structured problem-solving methodologies. Identify root causes, implement effective countermeasures, and verify corrective action effectiveness.
- Work closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Supplier Quality teams to ensure quality requirements are integrated throughout product development and prototype validation activities.
- Evaluate supplier manufacturing processes, control plans, and quality systems to ensure production readiness and successful execution of prototype and pre-production programs.
Quality Technician Requirements:
- Associate degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience/certifications. Demonstrated experience in manufacturing quality control, engineering, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of technical drawings, GD&T, and measurement techniques. Proficiency in problem- solving methodologies
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Strong Microsoft Office experience
- Knowledge of supply chain and logistics
- Strong attention to detail
