Job Summary
Brown’s Flooring & Design is looking for a motivated and customer-focused Retail Sales Associate to join our team. This position plays an important role in creating a positive shopping experience by assisting customers with product selection, answering questions, processing transactions, and supporting daily store operations.
We are looking for someone who is dependable, friendly, organized, and eager to learn our products and services.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service in person and over the phone
- Assist customers with merchandise selection and product information
- Quote prices and provide estimates for customer projects
- Process sales transactions accurately and provide receipts
- Handle cash, checks, and credit card transactions
- Answer incoming phone calls and assist customers as needed
- Maintain accurate pricing and update merchandise labels
- Assist with stocking, organizing, and merchandising inventory
- Mix and custom match paint and stain for customers
- Handle customer complaints professionally and escalate issues when needed
- Facilitate special orders and ensure timely follow-up
- Assist with on-site customer measurements when necessary
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow opening and closing procedures
- Monitor inventory shortages and notify management
- Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous retail sales or customer service experience preferred
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer knowledge and ability to learn multiple software systems
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and cash handling procedures
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of flooring, kitchen & bath products, design, or paint is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, and reaching
- Comfortable working both indoors and occasionally on local job sites
