Job Title: Controls Engineer Job Description
This Controls Engineer will be developing, troubleshooting, and supporting PLC, HMI, and robotic control systems used in automated machinery and test systems. You will assist with machine builds, lead system start-ups, and provide both on-site and remote technical support to ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.
This role combines hands-on engineering work with collaboration across assembly, field service, and project teams in a fast-paced environment that offers strong opportunities for growth and ongoing technical learning.
Typical hours: 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (flexible hours)
Travel: 25%
When not traveling, you can expect to work around 40-45 hours per week;
During travel periods, hours may increase to approximately 45-50 hours per week.
Travel is typically project-based planned ahead, with most trips lasting around one week.
Responsibilities
Write and debug PLC and HMI programs with minimal assistance.
Collaborate with assembly and engineering teams to resolve control-system issues.
Train field service personnel on machine operation, start-up procedures, and robotics.
Communicate effectively with project managers, customers, and internal teams while handling multiple projects.
Support both new and existing equipment throughout installation and operation.
Lead machine start-ups and coordinate installation activities.
Mentor and train other engineers in controls and electrical disciplines.
Essential Skills
3+ years of controls engineering experience in a professional environment
Allen Bradley PLC programming from scratch
Ability to program Fanuc robotics or similar platform (Siemens, Mitsubishi, GE, or Omron).
Experience with variable-frequency drives and their integration into automated systems.
Ability to read and make red lines on electrical prints - AutoCAD Electrical

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $43.00/hr.
