Job Title: Welder/Fitter

Salary: $18.00 – $24.00 per hour
Position Summary
The Welder/Fitter is primarily responsible for fabricating and assembling metal products as specified by work orders, diagrams, and templates using hand tools, power tools, and metalworking machinery. This position lays out, positions, aligns, and fits together fabricated structural metal products according to blueprint and layout specifications.

Role Qualifications
- Produce fabricated metal components or assemblies within allowable timeframes established by project management personnel
- Adhere to all safety standards outlined in the company Safety Policy
- Adhere to all quality standards outlined in the company QAQC Manual
- High school graduate or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Position Responsibilities
- Read and interpret fabrication detail drawings, blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine fabrication and assembly methods for structural steel members
- Plan and develop layouts as outlined on blueprints and templates
- Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on materials using shop mathematics and layout techniques
- Determine the location and sequence of cutting, drilling, bending, rolling, punching, and welding operations
- Mark signage and symbols onto work pieces
- Rig and move parts into position manually or with mechanical hoists or cranes
- Set up and operate fabricating machines
- Weld metal components using a wire-feed welding machine
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including general labor, equipment maintenance, and miscellaneous departmental tasks

- Ability to communicate with coworkers regarding hazard recognition and problem solving
- Valid driver's license required
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Valid State Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Ironworker coursework
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, sit, stand for extended periods, stoop, reach, balance, and use hands to handle tools and materials
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds
- Close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision with the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to work at a production-rate pace involving continuous pushing and pulling of materials
- Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts, 4–5 consecutive days per week
Work Environment
- Work performed in changing weather conditions
- Moderate to high noise levels; hearing protection provided
- Dirty and dusty work environment with possible airborne particles
- Eye protection required at all times
- Regular work around heavy equipment and active production operations
- Ability to recognize workplace hazards and communicate effectively with coworkers
