Echeneidae Inc. DBA Remora seeks a Structural Engineering Manager in Wixom, MI.
Job Duties: Lead design reviews, pre-production verification and validation, and production design releases; Design a structural system capable of meeting defined functional objectives; Design and package structural systems that meet vehicle dynamic requirements; Validate design and build structural system through testing and data analysis; Develop analytical and computational models of structural frame for feasibility and strength analysis; Optimize all aspects of reaching structural requirements, including weight, reliability and strength; Identify all structural components and potential suppliers that meet design requirements, procurement timing, cost constraints, and weight; Manage and mentor team of 2 structural engineers and 1 CAD designer with similar responsibilities to that of the supervisor; Participate in engineering leadership meetings and discussions to contribute to decision making for the engineering organization as a whole; and Complete performance reviews for direct reports and make recommendations for promotions.
Job Requirements: The position requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Systems Engineering, and other closely related degrees, and 3 years of experience in the job offered or related structural engineering occupations. Must have 3 years of experience in the following skills: Design and release processes for typical automotive components and systems; Understanding of durability validation testing, including both bench and truck testing; Acquiring data and validating designs through accelerometers, strain gauges, etc. (including correct gauge placement for verifying design integrity); Utilizing various FEA/CAE and other simulation tools for analyzing automotive structural designs; and Creating 3D models using CAD Software (ex. Solidworks, Siemens NX, Catia).
