- High School Diploma or equivalency and a minimum of one (1) year of grounds maintenance experience.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the University by the University’s insurance carrier.
- Ability to read directions for the use of fertilizers and related materials and written instructions. Performs physically active work requiring frequent standing, reaching, walking, bending, digging, shoveling, pulling, pushing, climbing on a ladder and lifting in order to perform various grounds tasks.
- Frequent lifting requiring the execution of up to sixty pounds of force to move and use supplies, landscaping materials, and grounds equipment.
- Works with fertilizers and other substances that may produce strong and/or offensive odors and works in various conditions with extremes in heat and cold.
- Employees must possess, or obtain prior to the end of their probationary period, a Michigan Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification in Commercial Core and Category 3A (Turfgrass). Certification must be maintained as a condition of employment.
