POSITION: Tribal Natural Resources Crew Member
DEPARTMENT: THPO
LOCATION: Lac Vieux Desert Réservation & USDA-Ottawa National Forest
EMPLOYMENT: Full Time; Dependent on funding availability.
SALARY/PAY RATE: $17.00/Hour
DESCRIPTION:
The Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians and the USDA-Ottawa National Forest have signed a Master Participating Agreement (MPA), which allows for a partnership and Tribal Natural Resources Crew to be established.

·Invasive Species Treatment Activities
·Other Activities that are allowable through the MPA
Skills & Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED.
Must have knowledge of the Lac Vieux Desert Ojibwe people and their spiritual, traditional, historical, and ancestral ties of the community, while also agreeing not to publish or otherwise distribute culturally sensitive information to the public.
Knowledge and understanding of missions, organizational goals, and objectives of the Tribe.
·The current work schedule is Monday through Thursday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm.
·Crew Members are expected to follow USDA-Forest Service policies while working on Forest Service lands, but the Tribal Resource Crew is supervised by the Tribe; therefore, the Tribal Natural Resources Crew Leader must have knowledge of Tribal Employee Policies & Procedures.
·Mileage and/or per diem will be paid, if applicable.
·Maintain and inventory the Tribe's equipment that is provided to the Tribal Natural Resources Crew, while ensuring the return and care of USDA-Ottawa NF equipment and supplies utilized by the Crew.
·Public Lands Corp (PLC) Certificates are available for crew members who meet the requirements, which allows for direct hire authority with the USDA-Forest Service for two years. Currently, PLC Certificates are on hold of issuance by the USDA-Forest Service due to hiring limitations.
·Native preference applies to these positions.
·Crew Members are expected to work in all weather conditions, wear appropriate attire for working in heavy forested areas, must be physically able to perform the duties of the positions, and must be able to carry up to 50 lbs.
The applicant must be insured under the tribes' insurance as well and must pass a background check as well as a pre-employment drug test.
