Assembler
Job Description
This role involves assembling large commercial HVAC units in a modern manufacturing facility on a 1st shift schedule. You will work at a designated station on an assembly line, use hand and power tools, and follow detailed instructions to build high-quality air conditioning units for commercial buildings. The position offers extensive on-the-job training, including safety and blueprint reading, and requires comfort with physical work and working on your feet for most of the day.
Responsibilities
Perform repetitive mechanical assembly work at a designated station on the production line for large commercial AC units.
Work within one primary station and complete tasks as trained, while remaining flexible to move to other stations as production needs change.
Assemble various components of large HVAC units used in commercial buildings such as apartment complexes, hospitals, and large facilities.
Use hand tools and power tools daily to complete assembly tasks safely and efficiently.
Stand and move around the facility for a large portion of the workday while performing assembly duties.
Follow detailed work instructions and training to complete tasks accurately and consistently.
Participate in safety training during the first week and strictly adhere to all safety protocols and procedures at all times.
Report any equipment malfunctions, defects, or quality concerns to the production supervisor promptly.
Assist with brazing, soldering, operating machines and presses, and hanging and unhanging parts once fully trained.
Perform quality checks and tests on units multiple times before they are shipped, ensuring they meet required standards.
Enter and move within the units as needed to properly assemble internal components as training progresses.
Learn to read and understand blueprints to support accurate assembly of components.
Support team members and collaborate with the lead technician and coworkers to meet production goals.
Work voluntary overtime as needed, and be prepared for overtime to become mandatory with notice from production supervision.
Essential Skills
At least 6 months of manufacturing experience.
Demonstrated ability to perform physically demanding work, including bending, twisting, and climbing into large units to assemble components.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds repetitively (up to 44 times per shift), as shown in previous work experience.
Comfort working on feet for most of the workday in a manufacturing environment.
Willingness to climb into large units (not considered confined space under OSHA standards).
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools and mechanical components.
Positive attitude and strong willingness to learn, with openness to being trained from the ground up.
Ability to follow safety protocols and participate actively in safety training.
Reliability and consistency in attendance and performance, especially in a production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
1 year of assembly experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
Experience using hand tools and power tools in a mechanical or assembly setting.
Electrical experience, including basic understanding of electrical components or conduit bending.
Demonstrated mechanical inclination and comfort working with mechanical systems.
Experience working on an assembly line or in a station-based production environment.
Familiarity with reading blueprints or willingness to learn blueprint interpretation.

Work Environment
The role is based in a modern, temperature-controlled manufacturing facility that assembles large HVAC units. The environment is very clean and well organized, with clearly arranged stations and all necessary tools available at each work area. You will work on 1st shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Overtime is generally voluntary unless otherwise communicated, with current operations involving some weekend work and total hours ranging from approximately 50-60 hours per week while on contract and 60-70 hours per week once hired directly, depending on production needs. Overtime may become mandatory with notice from production supervision. You will stand and move around the facility for much of the day and may be assigned to different plants or stations as business needs evolve, including potential relocation to a newer plant as it becomes operational. The facility uses hand tools, power tools, machines, and presses at various stations, and testing stations are being actively developed as the building is relatively new. You will work closely with team members and have a lead technician to shadow during your first few weeks, providing guidance and support as you learn the role

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kentwood, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50/hr.
