Job Title: QC Chemist
Job Description
This role focuses on performing quality control testing on products and raw materials to ensure they meet established specifications and support consistent manufacturing quality. The QC Chemist works in a fast-paced laboratory environment, uses a wide range of analytical instruments, and collaborates closely with manufacturing and purchasing teams to maintain high standards of quality. This position offers strong opportunities to broaden hands-on experience with diverse tests and instrumentation and to grow professionally within a dynamic chemical laboratory.
Responsibilities
Perform quality control analysis on finished products, raw materials, and special inter-department projects as needed.
Analyze test results and approve, reject, or adjust products and raw materials based on corporate QC specifications.
Reexamine retained product samples when they are suspected to be defective to verify quality and investigate issues.
Interface with manufacturing personnel to communicate test results, discuss quality issues, and support process improvements.
Use everyday laboratory equipment and instruments, including performing titrations and measurements of viscosity and pH, and operating instruments such as ICP, AA, and HPLC.
Collaborate with manufacturing and purchasing teams to maintain high standards of quality for raw materials and to evaluate raw material sources.
Maintain accurate and complete records of test results and enter data into computer systems in a timely manner.
Perform general laboratory housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Carry out other general laboratory duties as assigned to support overall lab operations.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, or in Biology for candidates interested in production chemistry work.
At least 1 year of hands-on laboratory experience, which may include academic lab work, with a focus on titrations, pH testing, and viscosity measurements.
Demonstrated experience with wet chemistry techniques and titrations.
Basic computer skills, including the ability to use Word and Excel for data entry and documentation.
Strong motivation and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with colleagues in the lab and with manufacturing personnel.
Attention to detail and a commitment to following established quality control specifications and procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience or coursework with ICP, ICP-OES, AA, HPLC, or related analytical instrumentation gained in school or prior roles.
Interest in quality control and analytical chemistry.
Ability to quickly learn new tests and instrumentation across a wide range of products and methods.
Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, including willingness to help peers and contribute to a positive team environment.
Interest in professional growth and upward mobility within a laboratory setting.
Work Environment
The QC Chemist works in a brand-new, clean laboratory designed to support a high volume of testing with a quick pace. The lab handles a broad product line, with thousands of products and hundreds of unique tests, providing exposure to many types of chemical analyses and instruments such as titration setups, viscosity and pH measurement tools, ICP, AA, and HPLC. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with occasional overtime and possible Saturday work when needed. The environment is fast-paced, and team members move quickly and stay engaged throughout the shift. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
