SCSEP participants must be unemployed, age 55 and older with an income at or below $19,950 for a single person. Priority is given to persons age 65 and older, veterans, disables, low literacy, homeless or live in an area with low employment prospects.
Participants are temporarily employed by the SCSEP and assigned to work at one of a variety of non-profit host agencies that have agreed to provide a training assignment and supervision. Participants work up to 20 hours a week at the current minimum wage of $13.73 per hour.
