This expert works with the Controls Center of Excellence (COE) Manager, Controls Developers, Calibration, Advanced and Production Requirements teams to ensure that all requirements delivered by the Controls COE team meet the highest quality standards and support program functional objectives. This role provides technical leadership to PRC controls developers in the proper implementation of requirements, including controls assessments and prototype design. The expert leads training in all aspects of engine control development and is a key participant in issue investigations and resolution planning.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Read high-level requirements related to the intended vehicle-level behavior
Design the appropriate control algorithm that fulfills the functional objectives
Implement the control algorithm in Matlab-Simulink, C, etc.
Provide best-guess calibration dataset
Pre-verify the implementation, and check the requirements' compliance, through Model In The Loop (MIL) testing;
Pre-verification of the generated code, through Software in the Loop (SIL) testing or specific tools able to monitor the consumption of software resources (e.g. VRAM, throughput)
Generate integrated prototype code builds
Verify official and improve prototype code builds in the MIL, HIL lab or in the vehicle, using ETAS INCA and other tools;
Analysis and response to the tracked issues
Attend technical meetings, perform data analysis and resolve issues
Develop process documentation
Support the calibration and application community
